National Parks are my therapy, heritage and inspiration.

Audrey Peterman, a publisher of Pickup & Go has rented RVs from Bates International Motor Home Rental Systems, Inc. and here is an article of one of her trips.

Having lived in Florida for many years and regularly visiting Biscayne and Everglades national parks, I headed out to drink in the clear blue vistas of Biscayne and the infinite saw-grass marshes at Everglades.  The views, the serenity, the wildlife going about their business as they have for millennia, restored my spirit and helped me regain my serenity.

I flew to El Paso, TX on a long- awaited birding trip to Big Bend National Park, a three-and-a-half hour ride from the airport.  En route, we visited For Davis National Historic Site, home to troops of “Buffalo Soldiers” from 1867-1885.  Since I’d learned about this park it had taken on almost mythical proportions in my mind.

Arriving on the banks of the Rio Grande River, the bird enthusiasts among us immediately went wild, as we spotted one amazingly beautiful kind of bird after another.  Several spouses were new to birding, but soon got into the spirit once they saw the intensely crimson Vermilion Flycatcher, its neon chest flashing in the sun as it dipped and dived catching breakfast.  When we saw the Painted Bunting, with its purple head, green wings, yellow back and red breast, it was all over for me.  Add to that a daylong hike up to the mountain pinnacles, down around and over and back down them in a nine-and-a-half mile trip of stunning views, amazing birds and even a sighting of the rare Colima warbler, and we left the park spent and happy.  I have to say, Wallace Stegner got it right:  The National Parks are the best idea America ever had!

On your next trip, to say the National Parks or anywhere in the U.S., rent an RV from Bates International Motor Home Rental Systems, Inc. it will help make your adventure a memorable experience.  Lastly, with Bates RV rental franchises all across the U.S. it will make it a convenient experience also.
